About Us
 
Empowerment and Development Exchange, Inc. (EDE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive services to meet the emotional, developmental, mental health, social and intellectual needs of adolescents and young adults.  EDE develops creative and innovative programming to meet the diverse needs of its consumers.  The agency strives to empower adolescents and young adults to embrace their uniqueness and strive towards excellence in all edeavors.
 
Empowerment and Development Exchange was incorporated in 2007.
 
Services Provided
 
G.E.M.S. (Girls Empowered to Model Success)
The mission of the GEMS program is to help girls (ages 13-18) become confident, empowered, and self motivated leaders by providing opportunities that will allow them to assess their inner strengths and evaluate their decision making skills and goal setting behaviors. G.E.M.S. participate in monthly training events and trips.  They also receive personal coaching to assist in completing an individual success plan.  Applications must be submitted in order to participate.  Applications are accepted April - May and girls are selected to participate for the fall academic year. 
 
Mental Health Support Services*
EDE, Inc. provides support to individuals dealing with mental health or behavioral health issues/concerns by providing supportive services, referrals to local providers and psychoeducation to consumers and family members.  The agency employs mentors/counselors to assist in ensuring that the mental health needs of participants are heard and they are referred to appropriate resources.  The agency holds workshops to provide support services and psychoeducation.  Services provided by the agency are free of charge and do not require any out of pocket costs for participants.   The mentors/counselors may serve as advocates for participants.
